The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 28. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Energy, Climate, and Grid Security Subcommittee Chair Jeff Duncan (R-SC) delivered the following remarks today at a House Republican Leadership press conference on the importance of flipping the switch on American energy with H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act.

“H.R. 1 is crafted to produce more energy in America. It will deliver that energy to the communities where it’s needed.

“[H.R. 1 will] deliver energy to allies to lessen their dependence on Vladimir Putin’s energy oligarch and improve the standard of living for Americans through American-produced energy resources.

“It’s time we embrace and expand America’s position as the number one energy producer in the world through increasing pipeline capacity, exporting more U.S. LNG, and streamlining environmental statutes to help build up a domestic refining and processing industry for critical minerals.

“Keep in mind, we’re reliant on China who doesn’t do it as environmentally sensitive and safely as we do here in America.

“It’s time to unleash American energy production by reforming the permitting process for all industries and reversing anti-energy policies advanced by the Biden Administration.

“H.R. 1 contains 16 separate bills from the Energy and Commerce Committee that will unleash American energy, actually lower prices for the American consumer, and secure our supply chains.

“I look forward to seeing this through the finish line."
