The following press release was published by the U.S. Dept. of Energy, Office of Environmental Management on April 27. It is reproduced in full below.

Cincinnati - Today the Department of Energy released Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) number DE-FOA-0002820 for Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) which will result in multiple financial assistance awards for the Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP).

Awards resulting from the FOA will focus on enhancing MSI programs to help foster a sustainable and diverse DOE Environmental Management (EM) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) workforce pipeline. The awards will also aid in promoting the development of a nationally engaged scientific and engineering workforce that will lead to future career pathways in the DOE EM complex for underrepresented groups.

The total estimated value of the FOA is $24,500,000 and resulting financial assistance awards will have periods of performance ranging from 12-36 months.

For more than 30 years, EM has remained focused on addressing the environmental legacy of nuclear weapons development and nuclear energy research that helped end World War II, win the Cold War and position the United States as a leader in clean nuclear energy. Collectively, EM is delivering results that are protecting the environment, supporting communities, and enabling a concerted focus on safely completing the mission sooner and more efficiently.

Additional information regarding the MSIPP FOA is available at: https://www.grants.gov.
