Alert employees teamed up with a regional beekeeper to save thousands of honeybees that recently took up residence at an Idaho National Laboratory (INL) Site facility and protect members of the workforce from potential, painful stings. Employees with EM contractor Idaho Environmental Coalition (IEC) noticed a massive cluster of honeybees swarming on the southeast portion of the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project (AMWTP). The beekeeper removed the queen bee and the vast majority of the bees followed. He estimated the hive number at 10,000 honeybees. The beekeeper has since relocated the bees to a safe home far away from the AMWTP.
